Hi there,
sewing as a hobby is becoming popular again (at last!). I've been sewing for years - I sewed in my first fitted sleeve on my mother's sewing machine when I was 6 - I remember it was a dolls dress - it helped to have tiny finger :)
Since then I've sewn all kinds of stuff from clothes to monstrous curtains but I want to try to branch out a bit - do something different. So I have started trying my hand at recycling fabric. My first attempt was to work with some guys shirts - even the best ones wear out to quickly around the collar and the cuffs but that issue is for another day. Anyway this is what I produced.
It's a faux pleated cushion which I made from three shirts. It was quick, simple and fun to make - certainly beats sending the shirts to landfill (in all conscience I wouldn't pop then in the charity bag).
I plan to try my hand at more things like this and some patchwork, but if you want to know how this one was made, I'm very happy to share.
bye for now!
Helene
